Test pattern nostalgia as Internet era dawns on a reader
A reflective piece recalls early TV test patterns and the slow birth of television and the Internet. The narrator compares watching old test patterns in Boise Valley in the 1950s to today’s digital age, predicting interactive TV and a two way future. The piece notes Internet use for messaging, travel, shopping, and entertainment, and laments the slow connection via phone lines.
