The U C W met on Tuesday January 4 1977 with 19 attending to install 1977 officers including President Mrs McNeill Vice President Alvina Paddock Secretary Doris Henry and Treasurer Luella Bowman Debates covered 1976 activity and 1977 fees with a reminder that a small fee does not grant full membership The meeting adjourned Rev McNeill installed the officers and a general meeting is set for February 1 at 2 pm

The Rolling River School Division reported a balanced 1976 budget of 4,344,724 with no deficit to carry. An audit will confirm the slight surplus. A new 1977 capital grants system offers 10 per student for furnishings and other items.

Hamiota Band Committee Chooses Glockenspiel

Hamiota Manitoba January gathering of the Women’s Institute drew 18 members. The 1977 officers were installed by Past President Thelma Morris. New President Phyllis Chappell opened with a New Year poem and candle lighting. A $10 donation to Horticultural Department and $5 to A C W W Well Fund were approved. Red Cross Convenor reported 400 sewn and 21 knitted items. Meeting ended with benediction.

Special Children's Flu Vaccine Arrives for Winnipeg
Winnipeg will receive a small supply of bivalent flu vaccine for under 18s to protect children in high risk groups. Health Minister Laurent Desjardins says the doses cover about 2,000 people and will be distributed through the Children's Centre cystic fibrosis and cardiac clinics, regional health offices, and the Winnipeg city health department. Children receive two doses one month apart while adults need only one.
