McConnell 4-H beef club held its December meeting with guest speaker Mr. Jim Scott Reeve of Blanchard Municipal ity addressing municipal affairs. Members faced a Red Book quiz and planned the January session covering the last half. Six members will present three demonstrations while a tour to Brandon included the Auction War t Pool Packers and Mr Sam Gurt dairy farm.

Christmas Candlelight Service at Oak River United Church
The Oak River United Church held its annual Christmas Candlelight service with the Messangers and Explorers. The Sunday School presented the Christmas story and sent gifts to the Family Bureau in Winnipeg with a 136 dollar collection, 111 dollars to the Nigerian Fund, and the Junior Choir performed under Mrs. Stan Henry with piano by Mrs. Fraser Angus.

Maggie Ann Reid widow of W. D. Reid of Oak River Manitoba died December 7 1968 in Hamiota Hospital at eighty five. She was born in Scotland in 1885 and came to Canada in 1913. Survived by two sons Bill and Alan two daughters Betty and Effie two brothers John Brancon and George New York City and seven grandchildren.
