Canola options to start at Winnipeg Exchange in 1991
Winnipeg Commodity Exchange will begin trading options on canola futures in 1991 with later additions for other grains. Western Diversification Minister Charles Mayer announced funding up to 1,115,000 to support the option project, including software upgrades and a three year marketing program targeting farmers and market participants. The WCE, a not-for-profit, plans a 1.9 million spend on trading options and marketing, aided by a Western Diversification Fund reimbursement.
