Pioneer Lady Mrs James G McConnell Dies At Home
Margaret Gertrude McConnell wife of James G McConnell died at her Hamiota Manitoba residence on December 29 1940 after a long illness. She served as Christ Church Sunday School superintendent and was a past W A president and secretary for the Birtle Deanery. Survived by husband and three children Maxwell Hugh and a daughter Mrs Fred Decker. funeral held December 31 at Christ Church with Rev H L Newton and Rev R W Elliott. interment in Hamiota cemetery.

Schools Hold Hockey Tournament in Hamiota Rink
Five junior teams Oakburn Shoal Lake Lleabella McConnell and Hamiota met at Hamiota rink on Saturday December 2 and 16 and under. Hamiota beat McConnell 4 3 and Shoal Lake beat Oakburn 7 2 with Hamiota then defeating Lleabella 2 1. Final Shoal Lake 1 Hamiota 1 featured tough defense and a standout Leabella goalie injury.
