The Gino Silvy Singers, led by their smiling front, are praised for lush vocal work on CBC pop programs. The group’s smooth arrangements serve as background music for soloists or as featured performances, with Gino front and center between the two girls.
Local notices announce the 22nd annual Musical Festival with open dates May 5 6 and 7. Other items list theater performances at Crandall Theatre March 1 and community events in Hamiota and Crandall community halls with dances fairs and workshops.
Message urges unpaid fees be settled by February 28. It lists participants in a Rivers Bonspie event this week including Grace Jasper, Dot McConnel, E Turner, and M Manwaring with a skip by Grace Jasper suggested.
Mr A E Andrew arrived back home after spending a couple of days in Winnipeg.
The Pope group met at Mr A MacKay’s house with 17 members present led by Mrs J Morison. Plans for a yearly bazaar and monthly roll call were made and a 50 cent membership fee proposed. A $10 donation to March of Dimes was planned. Demonstrations on wood fibre and metal tool work followed by a lunch. A wine tasting event is scheduled for March 10 at Mrs R Kerr’s home.
The WI will hold its meeting at the hotel Mr Tavior on Thursday March 4 at 2 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Francis Hawkins and Cheryl spent the weekend at the home of the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. Hawkins.
