Work continues on transforming the former Royal Bank building in Hamiota into the Heritage Arts Centre. Interior designer Janet Shaw-Russell leads volunteers to preserve features while adding practical spaces. Flu bug hits earlier this season in Manitoba
The southern Manitoba region reports the earliest and highest flu activity in Canada according to Dr. Louise Pelletier of the Laboratory Centre for Disease Control. Influenza began in Manitoba in November, peaked in January, and by late December had more cases than other provinces though the late January week saw 15 positive lab cases versus 30 the prior week.
