Heritage Arts Centre to Rise in Historic Bank Building

Work continues on transforming the former Royal Bank building in Hamiota into the Heritage Arts Centre. Interior designer Janet Shaw-Russell leads volunteers to preserve features while adding practical spaces. The project aims to create a destination site for tourism and cultural enrichment with oak floors, high ceilings, and preserved vault displays.

Flu bug hits earlier this season in Manitoba

The southern Manitoba region reports the earliest and highest flu activity in Canada according to Dr. Louise Pelletier of the Laboratory Centre for Disease Control. Influenza began in Manitoba in November, peaked in January, and by late December had more cases than other provinces though the late January week saw 15 positive lab cases versus 30 the prior week.

Wildlife club possible in Hamiota area

Local residents forming a wildlife club seek input from the community. Lynn Madsen invites interested citizens to an open meeting on Wednesday February 17 at 7 00 p m in the Hamiota Sports Complex to discuss goals for hunting and fishing activities.
