Florence Cochrane of Hamiota sends 125.0 to the Felvian Relief Fund Manitoba Branch. Acknowledgment expresses gratitude for district efforts and thanks the contributing ladies who helped with the movement. A. Dejardin signs as secretary.
A party from Hamiota including Mr and Mrs W Chambers Mr and Mrs F C Bennett Mr and Mrs Geo Edwards Mr and Mrs J H McConnell and Mr and Mrs J G McConnell spent a social evening at Mrs Stewart’s Arrowton home on Wednesday of last week. They traveled by sleigh and enjoyed cards music and a dinner before returning home in the cool of the morning. A separate note reports Wilfred Hogeland injured by a kick to the face while tending horses last Wednesday evening with eye injury and a hopeful recovery.
McConnell Cup action saw two Oak River rinks visit Hamiota on Friday with Hamiota taking both games. Morrison and Coombes led early but Morrison pulled away in the late ends to win 12 to 8 while Kerr split the ice to defeat Oak River 20 to 8 over fourteen ends. Rapid City and Crandall will challenge next week as Allan Eby and teammates report success at Shoal Lake with high placings. A patriotic Belgian Relief fund concert is set for February 26 at the Chunah church with refreshments after.
The report notes a postponed seladhi concert and a February 15 charity event at McConnell's hall to benefit the Hamiota Red Cross Society. At the Hamiota Hospital on Monday February 1 1915 Mrs Thomas Westbrook welcomed a daughter named Meida Genevieve. At McConnell on Tuesday February 9 1915 Mr and Mrs C C Brown welcomed a daughter.
The Pollyanna social hosted by the Junior League at Zion Methodist Church basement on Friday evening drew a full League turnout and many adults. Nettie McFarlane opened with a Pollyanna synopsis, praising the program’s moral aim. Mrs East earned praise for organizing the event, and Rev and Mrs East received a token of appreciation from trustees and the congregation. Dorothy Reid and Winnie Morrison presented purses, and O J White announced the tribute. A bountiful lunch followed, ending about 10 pm with attendees pleased. Proceeds totaled 32.50 to fund a loft window depicting The Boy Christ for the church.
