Thos Lemon, a tailor in Hamiota, offers to clean and press suits for $1, promoting local service to avoid sending garments out of town.
The Court of Revision for the Rural Municipality of Hamiota will be held in the Council Chamber on Wednesday March 1st.
Multiple births announced in Canadian notices. Helen Jean Chambers born January 25 1953 to F W Chambers at Private Patients Pavilion Toronto. David Taylor and Gladys Johnson welcomed a daughter January 31 1933 at St Andrews Man. Jean Riddick Banks and J C Banks welcomed a son February 4 1933 at Misericordia Winnipeg. Wm Allan and spouse welcomed a son February 5 1933 at Hamiota Hospital Oakner Mao.
John Johnson senior, pioneer of the Oakner district, died after a long illness at his son W. J. Johnson’s home in Oakner Man. He was 87 years old. Born in Chingushy, Peel County, Out, he married Mary Hannah Brown in 1872 and farmed in Wellington County before moving to Manitoba in 1878. The family settled south of Hamiota and later retired to Hamiota, then lived with his son in Oakner. Survived by his wife, daughter Mrs D Darragh, and five sons George, Roy C, Harry, Fred, and William John, plus a brother George of Palmerston Ont. Funeral held Friday at Wm. John’s home, Rev. N B McLeneghan officiating. interment in Hamiota Cemetery.
