Heavy snow blanketed the area causing widespread disruption. RCMP members assisted with snow clearing as crews gradually reduced the accumulation after the major fall.
Hamiota Huskies player David Kirk recovers from a neck injury suffered November 26 when struck by a stick. After reconstructive surgery, doctors expect possible voice improvement within three to six months, with potential further therapy or surgery if needed. He returned to play eight games, wearing a neck protector and advocating protective gear for teammates.
Hamiota artist Orris Steinburg gains international acclaim and is chosen to submit works for a wildlife themed show in Kingston New York. His wife Connie notes the invitation came amid growing recognition after a Wolf Haven donation inspired painting Buffalo Dreamer. They plan a May trip to the Catskills and New York City.
A seven week parenting program led by Theresa Pelland at the Hamiota District Health Centre runs Mondays 7 to 9 PM starting Feb 6. The course uses videos and discussions to teach techniques from Faber and Mazlish to encourage cooperation and autonomy in children.
