A new Canadian Grade Horse Association invites grade horse owners across Canada to join. The group uses a yearlong point system across 12 championship divisions with age categories, an annual awards dinner, and a national championship plan. Membership details include chapters by province and a quarterly newsletter.
Decker boy’s hockey went 3 4 1 in a four game tournament January 24 with teams from Virden Birtle and Miniota. Standouts included Virden Mark Wakley Corey Fieknner Decker Scott Knight Todd Kokoradz and Miniota Darcy McKean Dave Stowe.
January Health Centre Auxiliary meeting in the Board Room with 12 districts represented. Minutes of the November meeting read. treasurer reports a balance of 2064.76. Donations in kind noted, staff changes, intern Joel Kettner, and plans to reinvest 2000 in a five year Savings Certificate. Next meeting February 27 1976 at 2 PM.
CKND TV named Margaret White of 662 Cord Street Winnipeg Woman of the Year after a New Year Eve Wide Open program. A judge panel selected her from more than 125 nominations submitted by viewers. Don Brinton praised her as a representative unsung community member.
The Fort Lorraine paper notes Margaret White, active River Heights volunteer, honored in a tribute marking International Women's Year. Host Brian Phillips highlighted her visits to shut ins, the hospitalized, and the elderly during 1975. Mrs White's 96 year old mother lives with her. she is married to Frank White of Oak River and sister to Jean Henry.
The Hamiota Auxiliary met Tuesday January 27 with 20 members. Two transferred from Oak River are Mrs Doris Hutchings and Mrs Bill Knight. Officers elected as Mrs Pedlow president and Mrs Harman secretary among others. They raised 108.25 from ticket sales and planned a February 14 supper for municipalities bonspiel. Lunch followed with music by Bernice Vincent and Don Pollock.
