Hamiota Curling Club opened its 22nd annual Bonspiel with 28 rinks entered including 11 from Hamiota and 17 visiting teams. The draw lists matchups and morning game results as of today, showing a busy field and near-record participation.
A masquerade dance at Memorial Hall on Friday February 5 features prizes for ladies costumes and best comic outfit with the Hamiota orchestra providing music. The Women’s Institute serves lunch, and admission is 5 cents for men and 50 cents for ladies. The Women’s Missionary Society marked their fifth birthday with music readings and a luncheon, while the Boys and Girls Club held its annual meeting noting a solid financial showing and listing new officers and project leaders. The Quin ton class organized for monthly meetings with a planned schedule of social literary physical and religious activities and elected officers.
The district hosts include prize winners at the Pig Club Mise Ewen and Miss Cormick in Kenton, a whist drive by the Oddfellows, and a grand Scotch concert by the Carnegie Family. Lavinia Union Church plans a box social with forty three well filled boxes and an eighty dollar draw, plus local dances, dances and a wedding of community members.
