Christmas dances hosted by the Women's Institute in McConnell's Hall and the Oakner Curling Club draw local attendance. Notices list guests, dances, film showings featuring Sally in Our Alley, and social gatherings at United Church Parlors plus Christmas greetings and family updates from Hamiota area residents.
Crandall United Church announces worship at 11 a.m and 7 30 p.m with Sunday School at 12 10 p.m. Rev H H Kippen serves as minister. Palmerston hosts Sunday School at 2 p.m and a worship service at 3 p.m.
The Christmas Communion service at Christ Church on December 30 at 11.30 a.m. will be conducted by Rev. George E. Phillips, newly appointed rector of St. Pauls Shoal Lake. He will preach on the Christmas festival and the day includes Sunday School at 7 p.m.
The Hamiota United Church reports a busy Christmas season with 11 am and 7 pm services on December 23 1934 titled A New Experience and The Arithmetic of Life The Sunday School at 12 10 includes devotions The congregation enjoyed an illuminated star tree and greens The choir led by Principal Ruttan performed festive anthems Organ and cornet were played by Messrs Few and Frazer during the evening recital The note marks Christmas Sunday as memorable and faithful attendance amid severe cold
The Regular Meeting of Hamiota No 367 CLO F is held in the Orange Hall on the first and third Wednesday at 7 pm. Visiting brethren are welcome.
WB Strichan and H Gray attended a meeting of the agricultural fair board and banquet held last week in Hamiota. Oakner senior hockey team traveled to Pops to face the Pope boys, resulting in a victory for the home team. Spectators were few due to the weather. The Sunday School held its annual Christmas tree on Friday night with Rev. J Dunoers as chairman.
Miss M. McGhee a student at the Angus School of Commerce Winnipeg is back home for the Christmas holidays.
