Local items report a public holiday for BOX DAY December 26 and store observance. Visitors include Mrs F Walden returning to Oak River and W H Josey visiting Edmonton for Christmas. A 50th anniversary train arrival celebration, a cattle sale in Hamiota, and cancelled parades precede a January 9 parade. Engagement announced for Helen Roberta Swyers and Herman Olafson with a Winnipeg wedding later this month. Hockey games and a Home Comers Dance are planned with a tribute to Rev G Lockhart, while school closes for holidays and resumes January 6.
