Sprayer test uncovers serious valve and gauge flaws
Engineers report weak valve seals and erratic pressure in farm sprayers. Many valves fail to close fully and a 35 KPA rated valve drops 100 to 140 KPA. Boom height, nozzle type, worn control valves, and calibration errors contribute to misapplied chemicals. Six recommended actions include replacing brass nozzles, verifying boom pressure, using better diaphragm valves, refurbishing pumps and hoses, correct boom height, and regular calibration.
