Community rings in 2000 with two New Year events
In Hamiota the Millennium Committee hosts a family New Year Eve Gala at the Hamiota Collegiate with Try Tunes, dances and youth activities starting 8 PM, while the Sports Complex sponsors an alcohol free 9 PM to 1 AM dance featuring Kelvin's Angelis for adults. Tickets cost 10 dollars. Special millennium pins are given to attendees 80 and older.

Christmas Night Duet Opens Hamiota Show
Shari and Jack Beamish performed a trumpet duet before the Hamiota Collegiate Christmas production on December 15 16 as part of two festive evenings. Other stage participants included Paige Kim Nora Daniel Sheena Jillian Nicole Becky Doug Mathison and a 40 student cast for 2000 Together under Carol Smith Barb Brown and Linda Conner.

Cataract surgery starts in Minnedosa program
The Marquette Regional Health Authority funded eye surgery at Minnedosa District Health Centre under Dr Guillermo Rocha began on Tuesday November 30 with four procedures. The Tri Regional Surgery Program links Marquette Brandon and South Westman to expand high and low acuity eye operations and relieve Brandon wait lists.
