At the December annual meeting in Oak Lake, the Hamiota Credit Union voted to amend charter by laws to issue a patronage refund via surplus shares. Norm Nicol reported assets rose 7.8 percent to 38.5 million with loans to members up 16 percent and net income up to 484,155 dollars.
Hamiota 4 H members held a Nov 25 Christmas party traveling to Minnedosa for lunch and bowling. Brett Paterson and Jenna Bell led in bowling. Kenton Kraftsmen met Dec 7 at the Kenton School with games food and piñata. Sherry Klassen joined and speeches set for Jan 10 at 4 00 p.m. at the Kenton School.
The Hamiota Men's 60 plus Bonspiel held December 2 and 3 featured 12 rinks. Virden’s Ralph Colli, Henry Polk, Dave Reid and Garnet Effler won with 73 points to claim the Ernie Wallace trophy. Len Allan's rink took second with 70 points and Orrie Steinburg's group finished third with 68. Fourth place went to Carlyle Johnston, Jack Lawn, Arnold Nicholls and Ray Brethour. Weather was good and the ice top notch.
Lions give Dave Martinussen a Certificate of Appreciation for a sweater fundraiser at Rollingdale Workshop. 565 birthday calendars will be assembled before Christmas. Grey Cup pool winners share about 560 dollars. Peace Poster Contest results to be published next year. Year end meeting set for Dec 19 at Vincent's Place, Zone meeting Dec 13 in Rapid City.
