United Church Choir Holds Carol Service
The Hamiota United Church choir held its annual carol service on Sunday December 15 at 7 p.m. A large crowd attended and after the service the choir presented Mr. W. W. Kirk with a gift for past year work. The event raised $46.50 to finance the year.

Manitoba Flying Farmers Hold December Dinner Meeting
The Manitoba Flying Farmers met at United Café in Brandon on December 12 with 28 members present. President Peter Thompson chaired a brief session planning January activities and continued advertising to raise public awareness of the association. Donated prizes went to Mrs. Froebe and Irene Burter for the ladies and Ken Pritchard for the men.

Mrs. Sarah Jane Arris aged 86 formerly of 1345 Manitoba Ave died Sunday in Winnipeg. Born Primrose Ontario she lived in Decker Manitoba for 42 years before moving to Winnipeg 16 years ago. Survived by sons Clifford E. and Edwin J. of Winnipeg a sister L E Young of Decker and a brother James E. Allingham of Winnipeg plus five grandchildren. Funeral at Bardal's chapel 10:30 a.m. Wednesday with Rev H H Barber officiating. Burial Brookside cemetery.

Hamiota Women’s Institute hears book review and grants
The Hamiota Women’s Institute met December 3 at 2 30 in the community room. Mrs A D Rutherford acting president led a book review by Mrs J J Ward of White Mother, the tale of two orphaned Black girls and a kind white friend. Officers were installed and public grants to the Municipal History Fund acknowledged from Town Council and Rural Council. Library report notes sixteen library subscribers for the new year, with books available for 50 cents a year.
