The Ladies' Patriotic Society of Hamiota Man gathers reports from December 1916. It notes donations to St John Ambulance Winnipeg, Red Cross support, and a Prisoners of War fund. a New Year meeting is planned with a carnival and skating prizes. knitting and sewing drives are urged for the war effort.

A quiet wedding was held December 6 1916 at the home of Mr and Mrs Jas Reid as Misesabel Roberts married Alvin McConpell of Ellenville with Rev BE Tarkington officiating. The couple then moved to Ellenville amid gifts and rice showers. Also noted are two additional quiet weddings at Knox Church Manse Winnipeg and Baptist Manse Portage la Prairie with Miss Flossie Niblock and Miss Margaret Burns uniting with partners A E Allshire and Dr A P Cameron respectively.
The couple signed the register and the company repaired to the Hotel Portage where they had dinner. They left by the 5:30 p.m. train for Winnipes and Minaki to spend their honeymoon. Dr and Mrs Cameron plan to return to Winnipeg where Dr Cameron is appointed house surgeon at the Children's Hospital.
