The store promotes a wide holiday assortment including toiletries combs brushes mirrors leather goods men fitted cases bill folds stationery Parker sets cameras Christmas cards and wrapping supplies. Monogramming in gold on any box is offered free with displayed gifts and bills contain illustrations and prices.
Local church and club events fill the week with dances, meetings, and fundraisers. Highlights include a Dickens reading at Oakner Hall, a poultry cooperative off the schedule, and Christmas tree entertainment by veterans.
At 11 30 a m Sunday School and Monday December 25 at 3 p m Evening prayer with Holy Communion. Celebrant Rev H C Smith of Shoal Lake officiating.
Classified items advertise WANTED board and animals, FOR SALE hockey pants and gear, and driving horse. Also Christmas shopping, a New Year dance at Orange Hall with Arrow River Orchestra, and Hamiota Women's Institute meeting featuring amateur contest winners Ethel Kelly Lorna Webb and Eileen Wray with tea service.
At the annual meeting of Hamiota Agricultural Society the following officers were elected for the ensuing year: President W J Pollock, vice president G Killoch, secretary treasurer I Strickland. Directors include J W Stewart WK Fraser J Reid AE McConnell Geo Wright and others.
The paper notes a Wednesday half holiday and states that news items arriving after 3 p.m. on Tuesdays cannot be accepted. This policy affects late submissions and deadline adherence for upcoming editions.
