Hamiota Curling Club Plans Artificial Ice Opening
The official opening of Artificial Ice at the Hamiota Curling Rink is set for Saturday December 15 at 2 00 p m with sixteen exhibition games. Teams from Oakner Oak River Decker Crandall and Virden along with local ladies and men clubs will participate in a full schedule including 4 00 6 00 and 8 00 p m draws. Caretaker Doug Beamish and Jim Douglas prepared the ice in five days as the plant started Monday.

4 H Leaders Meet in Hamio ta Agricultural District
The annual meeting of 4-H club leaders in the Ham iota Agricultural Representative District was held in Hamiota. About thirty leaders attended from multiple clubs including Ham iota Sewing Cardale Sewing and Oak River Sewing. Guest speaker Mr Ed Somers outlined building a strong 4-H program and keeping members engaged. Public speaking contests and a concert were approved for the new year. Mrs J E Finkbeiner of Isabella Arnold was elected to a leadership role.

George Spicer Expires After Brief Illness in Winnipeg
George Spicer of the C N L B of Winnipeg formerly of the Scotia District died at Winnipeg General Hospital in his 74th year after a short illness. Funeral services were held December 1 at 3:00 p.m. at McDonnell's Funeral Chapel with interment in Scotia Cemetery. Pallbearers were Melvin Golden, Earl Smith, Jack Anderson Douglas Dickie of Brandon, and Jim and Ivan Routledge.
