Four Year Electrician Licences Approved and Fees Raised

Manitoba regulators approve a four year licence term replacing the previous one year. Examination fees stay at 15 dollars, plus a licence fee after successful exams. Christmas Carol Production By Hamiota Students

About 60 collegiate students rehearse for a Christmas Carol performance set for December 17 and 18. The show adapts Charles Dickens story of Scrooge and his circle and includes a range of Christmas choral numbers.

Seminar Planned in Virden on Alternate Fuels

A seminar at the Legion Hall Virden Manitoba Friday December 19 from 1 4 30 p m features Glen Kiecker secretary of the Minnesota Gasphol Commission. He will show slides film and discuss progress of the alternate fuel movement in the United States focusing on alcohol as farm fuel used in school buses taxis and public service vehicles. A discussion period and literature will be available. A second seminar is slated for Whitewood Saskatchewan on December 18.

First Tarentoise Show At Agribition Crowns Grand Champion

Ken Pierce of Tu Valley Farms Miniota Manitoba won first in the cow calf efficiency class with a three year old Tarentoise cow and earned the Grand Champion Tarentoise female banner presented by Labatts. Brownary Photographers issued a framed photo while Cindy Pierce and Veenland of Fort Macleod handed rib bons. Sheldon Moorehead received a heifer purchased by Christ Klein of New Rockford who, impressed by handling, kept the donated animal after Klein returned it.

Advisory Council on the Status of Women Launch

Premier Sterling Lyon and Cultural Affairs Minister Norma Price attend a luncheon launching Manitoba’s Advisory Council on the Status of Women. The council, chaired by Muriel Arpin, includes members Beverly A. Goodwin Stephanie J. Hodgins Leona Penner Patricia Graham Kay Hamblin Josephine Klimkin Elizabeth Legge and Susan Shineton with Ann Moore missing. ex officio members Shirley Bradshaw and Eveline Pajonk. The group will advise the Minister of Labor and Manpower on women’s status and rights and may refer issues to cabinet ministers for study or action.
