Hamiota Scouts Brave Cold Weather For Tree Sale

MARCIE HARRISON reports on Hamiota Boy Scouts braving wind and cold on Saturday December 1 for their annual Christmas Tree Sale at the municipal parking lot. Cubs leader Garry Webber was assisted by Hamiota Beavers and Cubs members, with parents helping as the fundraiser offered 80 trees, hoping shoppers would come despite the chill.

New Streets Named in Hamiota Development Plan

The Town of Hamiota has officially named three streets for a new residential area and an industrial park. Elm Street will connect to the north end industrial park and the Premium Park facilities, with construction due this spring. Linden Avenue and Basswood Avenue will join a forthcoming housing project as the first phase proceeds, starting with 5th Street as access.

Community Christmas Dinner Brings Township Together

Ha Miota residents Jim and Marie Scott sustain the annual Hamiota Community Christmas Dinner begun with Del and Lauretta Pierce to help those spending Christmas alone. Last year 80 plus people enjoyed the meal at the Community Centre with volunteers delivering meals and providing transport within town. Dinner is on December 25 at 4 30 p.m. free of charge. volunteers and donations needed, call 764 2575 to attend or arrange delivery.
