The Clateaugay Presbyterian Church and the town regret the departure of Rev Edward Turkington who will leave for Whitby Ontario to become pastor of St Andrew's Presbyterian Whitby. He arrived in Chateaugay April 1 1917 and is praised for leadership, oration, and community work. Mrs Turkington is also a well regarded figure.
A quiet wedding on Wednesday evening July Slot 1918 at Mr and Mrs J F Jordan home united Miss Margaret Ann Pangman and Mr Joseph Henry Martin of Manitoba. Rev Geo H Skinner officiated with Beatrice Clendening at piano and Evelyn Hardaker bridesmaid. Gifts included a check, a gold chain and pendant, and a watch fob for the groomsman.
After the ceremony Mrs Jordan hosted a dainty buffet lunch and confetti filled reception. The happy couple left for their home near Minitoneas, Man, where Mr Martino operates extensive farming. Friends extend best wishes for a prosperous married life.
