Elevators Refute Charges of High Storage Earnings
At the Board of Grain Commoditions hearing in Winnipeg the United Grain Growers Pools and Line Companies defended current storage charges. G P Heffelfinger of the North West Line Elevators Association reported that fourteen members with 2,865 country elevators and ten terminals earned only two and two thirds cents per bushel on Board Wheat in country elevators and one and four tenths cents per bushel from all sources at terminals. He cited higher operating and maintenance costs from larger scales, cleaning equipment, labor, taxation, and sabotage protection, arguing the rate has prevailed for years.

Experimental Farm Notes on Fallow Weed Control Methods
Agricultural notes discuss managing green growth on summer fallows after harvest to prevent reseeding. Three options are burying with ploughing or disking, cultivating while leaving weeds on surface, or mowing and removing prior to cultivation. Packing soil aids decomposition if burying, while surface trash requires double cultivation to avoid seed spread. When seeds are present, bind and remove weeds promptly.
