Credit union defends records burning amid security concerns
South Interlake Credit Union officials say they supervised burning of over 40 boxes of financial statements at Rockwood Disposal Grounds to prevent access to sensitive data. Resident Randy Makowski found open boxes, questioning security as a bank employee monitored the burn and the site later checked for complete destruction. The article also reports a Dauphin census discrepancy between federal and provincial figures and a fatal head on crash near Carberry on the Trans-Canada Highway.
