Farewell Hamiota Bible Study Group Held at Reid Home
A surprise farewell for the Bible Study group led by Rev. and Mrs. D. Hester occurred August 8 at Mr. and Mrs. Les Reid’s home in Hamiota. United Church members presented a farewell card and cash gift for frequent trips, with films of Les and Verna Reid and Mrs. Neihall, and the Passion Play at Spearfish Wyoming. Attendees included the Reid and Hedley families, Jim and Rachel Routledge, Mrs Nicholl, the Lawsons, Betty Nesbitt, Mrs. Nelson Kreager, Marion McDougal, and Roxanne White. The event ended with lunch served by the Study Group.

Steven Reunion Brings 81 Relatives Together in Hoosier
The first Steven Reunion was held August 6 and 7 in Hoosier Saskatchewan with 81 relatives gathering from Canada and the USA. Surviving members Harold Steven, Mrs. Gertie Barr, and Russ Stevens attended, while Helen Steven and Lorne were unable to attend. The weekend featured a steak barbecue, a ballgame, pancakes, a Buffalo farm visit, and a cold plate supper, with plaques presented to the five Steven families.

Facility Plan Urges Brandon Juvenile Detention Center
A government appointee design team recommends a Brandon facility for short term detention of up to sixteen males and female juveniles under the Juvenile Delinquents Act and Child Welfare Act. Detention periods would range from under a day to three months. the design group reports to Director Stewart Hunter as the adult institution won’t include juvenile spaces.

Hamiota Bowling Club Hosts Strathclair and Virden Guests
On August 3 the Hamiota Bowling Club hosted over 20 Strathclair members for two games across seven lanes with lunch and a 60 person social at the Community Centre. On August 12 fifteen Virden Club members joined for two afternoon games followed by a picnic supper, shuffleboard and card games.
