Former Hamiota residents gathered for the eighth annual picnic at Lumberman’s Arch in Stanley Park Vancouver on a sunny Wednesday July 27. Death of Mrs R J Emerson at McConnell 1938
The late Mrs R J Emerson died at her home in McConnell on August Yth 1938. She was the wife of Robert Emerson and mother of nine, with three sons and four daughters. The service was led by Rev T D Barnett of Hamiota and Rev Courtney Emerson of Winnipeg at the McConnell Church, with burial in Hamiota cemetery.

Samuel Kirk Hamiota Old Timer Dies at 88
Samuel Kirk, a longtime Hamiota resident who came west in 1892, died at his home on Friday August 12 after two years of failing health from paralytic strokes. He was 88. Survived by wife, two sons David Vallejo Calif and William Hamiota, two daughters Ida Malcolm Vancouver and Margaret Whimster Hamiota, one brother George Brandon, two sisters Margaret Switzer Los Angeles and Coupe St Mary's Ont. Funeral from residence Sunday with Rev. T D Barnett officiating. interment at Hamiota Cemetery.

Death of Harvey Jordan Funeral Held for Local Athlete
John Harvey Jordan died at Winnipeg General Hospital after typhoid fever at Emerson. A 30 year old Sneid's store clerk turned independent businessman briefly in Winnipeg. Survived by father John Jordan and brothers Ollie Elkhorn Man and Wilfred Rouyn Quebec. He played curling hockey and baseball and belonged to Court Hamilton No 367 Canadian Order of Foresters. Funeral held Wednesday.
