The Hamiota troop aided the Hospital Ladies' Aid by resisting at erection and general choice. They pursue cookery musicians and other proficiency badges while last Monday added gymnastics and boxing instruction and plans for more self defense practice next Monday.
A large audience gathered at the Presbyterian Church in Miniota on Thursday night August 5 for the ordination and induction of Rev. J. Hamill as pastor of Miniota and Arrow River churches. The service featured Rev. Grev Lockhart as moderator, with Rev. D. Johnston and Rev. Jas. Donaghy delivering addresses, followed by introductions by Messrs James Henderson and David Fraser. Refreshments were served and the community extended good wishes for a fruitful pastorate.
The Hamiota Consolidated School District trustees met in the Council Chamber on Thursday August bth with M. A. Whimster chairing. They accepted Miss Sproat’s resignation as teacher of Grades 6 and 7 and approved the finance committee’s accounts totaling 100.00 for caretaker, 25.00 for secretary treasurer, 310.70 for telegrams and telephone, 12.00 for Thos. Sheardown, 10.00 for Chas Penny, 523.90 coal from Manitoba Hardware, 84.20 for E. N. Moyer vans, and 29.30 freight from OPR. The meeting adjourned at 9:45 p.m.
