In Memoriam Longmuir Five Heat Memory

In memoriam for our dear husband and father who died August 12 1956. His weary hours and days of pain are past. His troubled nights are over. In our aching hearts we know he has found sweet rest. Ever remembered by his wife and family.

Vacation School a Success at Hamiota United Church

The Hamiota annual United Church Vacation School closed with a church program. Eighty three registered, average attendance fifty ten over two weeks, and total offerings 28.85 with four dollars to Special Mission projects for picture books. Mrs E L Bennett Preston of Selsey, England, honored at a gathering in Mirror Alberta with W H Josey of Vegreville and others, recalling forty years since Decker days. Rev K Moffatt thanks teachers and helpers for their efforts and hopes Mrs Josey recovers soon.

Trousseau Reception for Margaret Houck In Winnipeg

Mrs. Lloyd Houck entertained at a trousseau reception for her daughter Margaret Ann in Winnipeg following her marriage to Leonard Jones last Saturday. Guests included out of town relatives from Rivers and Saskatoon, with Mrs. Fraser and the Houck family among the attendees.

Mrs Gordon Reynolds Passes After Fatal Car Crash

Funeral service for Winnifred Reynolds 29 wife of Gordon Reynolds Decker School principal held July 29 at Rossburn United Church with interment in Rossburn cemetery. Winnifred born in Rossburn district twin to Walter Armstrong attended local schools and worked for the Royal Bank of Canada in Toronto before returning to Manitoba in 1948. Active in church and community, she lived in Brookdale Alexander and Plumas with her husband.

Switzers Leave for Mitchell After Visit to Ontario Friends

Mr and Mrs Clark Switzer and their two weeks visit with Mrs John Sutherland and Andrew ended with a Tuesday morning departure by car for their Mitchell Ontario home. They were joined by cousins Mr and Mrs McEwing and their son from London Ontario for the trip.

Cochran e Beamish Reunion at Marshall-Chambers Park

The Cochran e Beamish clan held a reunion on July 28 1957 at Marshall Chambers Park with 53 dinner attendees 114 for supper and 132 registering. Participants included six members from BC one from Alberta twenty one from Saskatchewan and eight from Ontario. A business meeting followed and plans were made to meet again next year on the last Sunday in July at the same park.

CNR Moves First Ore From New Cold Stream Mine

A CNR gondola car carrying 55 tons of copper ore concentrates from Cold Stream Copper Mines in the Shebandowan area of northwestern Ontario reached the Noranda smelter en route from the new mine. The shipment signals production at a new mining site amid existing ore flows from Ontario deposits and the Steep Rock mines. The Coldstream mine aims for about 1000 tons per day this season.
