Day Care Funding Changes Announced in Manitoba
Manitoba announces a $1 million increase to 43.9 million in child day care funding for 1991. Major restructuring consolidates grants into a single operating grant for all licensed non profits and family day care homes, with targeted subsidies for those in need and higher fees to narrow the cost gap. Government expands eligibility for partial assistance and increases special needs funding while keeping lunch and after school care fees at 1990/91 levels. July 1991 implementation follows cost-of-care determinations per space.
