Mother's Day service planned for Sunday May 11 at CHUMAH. McConnell presents the play Tillie Goes to Sea at the church Thursday May 1 at 8:30 PM. Irma Hazlewood returns from Brandon and will stay two weeks. Mrs Hazlewood visits Brandon and Alexander. Mrs Geo Bull returns home after a week with Mrs Nelson Henderson.

Farm Improvement Loans Act aids 1946 farm financing
A Parliament tabled report shows 13 030 farmers obtained nearly 10 million dollars under the Farm Improvement Loans Act in 1946. Banks funded loans for farm equipment stock buildings and land development at 5 percent for up to ten years. The Prairie Provinces led in totals with significant activity in Manitoba Saskatchewan and Alberta.

Barley Entries Close June 15 for 1947 Contest

Four finalists from Manitoba Alberta and Saskatchewan competed for 25000 in Brandon with James G Gardiner presenting prizes. George G Elias of Haskett Manitoba won 1000 for top malting barley sample from 1946 with a carload entry shipped to Albania. Runners up were George G W Johnson Sylvan Lake Alberta 500 Donald Bradley Portage la Prairie 300 and John A Wylie Norquay Saskatchewan 200.
