In a small family ceremony on April 24 1937 Janet Camilis daughter of Mr and Mrs H A Meletosh married Ralph Shewfelt of Winkler Manitoba. The bride wore a light grey suit and pink carnation accessories. Rev T D Barnett officiated. After supper the couple left for Brandon then Winnipeg and Whitemouth before settling in Winkler.

Thos Richardson returned home from Kippen's lumber mills for the weekend. Wes Pollock visits Winnipeg this week. Chas Winstone Sr. came home from Winnipeg last Saturday. A large surprise party was held at the Gordon home on Wednesday evening April 21. The gathering enjoyed a good time into the early hours.

Pope and School Ball Injury and Local Horse Show Plans
While playing on Friday Keith Strachan collided with another boy at school and suffered a forehead cut needing medical attention. The Pope Horse Club met to plan a Colt Show set for June 9 with prizes for 1934 1935 and 1936 colts and a best handled halter broken colt open to boys and girls. Scotia to hold its annual picnic also on June 9 on the same grounds and a communion service is scheduled for next Sunday.

Local notes record WMS and Ladies Aid meetings in Decker with Presbyterial plans for May 26 and 27. Public and high school youths enjoyed an arte display in Hamiota. Representatives from several towns attended an executive Presbyterial meeting led by Mrs Geo Simminen Solsgirth and Mrs AL Decker. A coronation tea by WI members was hosted by Mrs J Merrick and others. Doris Lints of Brandon visited family in Decker. The sixth annual Sports Day and Horse Races are set for June 19 at John Norton’s home. Ford V8 car delivery noted.
