Rome Letter From Wn Chambers Describes Eternal City Tour

Mr C A Steele receives a letter from Wm Chambers recounting his trip with Mrs Chambers to the continent. He recalls Rome’s grand churches built from materials of pagan temples, visits to St John of Minerva, the Appian Way, Catacombs, Capuchin Monastery, and statues moved from Greece. He notes the climate, heated hotels, and earlier eruption effects on Naples tramways, plus a near miss with flying debris and a Russian death from injuries.
