Lenore District News Highlights Community Activities

The Lenore district recounts a busy period with visits by Mr and Mrs Sid Douglas of Carnduff and notes on Mary Stuarts 95th birthday. The Lenore Community Club annual meeting held with 14 attendees chaired by Robert Alexander covered audits, repairs, and 1986 87 officer nominations. Ottawa couple Mr and Mrs Ken Rankin visited Aunt Mrs Myrtle Caldwell and attended the Fick Enns wedding in Brandon on April 12. Senior Citizens Crokinole Play Offs in Kenton April 8 saw winners Stan Henry and Fred Mylrea with second place tie between Jim Douglas Wilmot Kirk and Merle Rowan Lorna Rowan. Sixteen teams joined visitors for a pleasant day amid thawing snow.

Rivers Council Adopts 1986 Capital Plan and Tax Bylaw

The Town of Rivers special council meeting on April 10 1986 adopted the 5 year capital expenditure program as required by the Municipal Act and approved the 1986 estimates and tax levy by-law No 786 after first reading. Mayor Gill presided with Councillors Jordens Schwalkm Stinson and Nielsen present. Secretary-Treasurer Jeanne Kozak recorded the proceedings and the meeting adjourned.
