Area Crime Prevention Committee formed in Hamiota
The local RCMP detachment forms the Area Crime Prevention Committee in December 1989. It includes RCMP members, representatives from RM of Hamiota Miniota Blan shard Woodworth and Village of Hamiota, plus Birdtail River School Division and two from Hamiota Collegiate. The group aims to improve public-police rapport, encourage feedback, clarify police priorities and resources, and provide a channel for residents to raise concerns without turning into a witch hunt or a report channel for officers. Kentones Stage 8th Annual Barbershop Concert Marching N Song
The Kentones at Kenton Memorial Hall hosted their 8th annual Barbershop Concert Marching N Song directed by Ken Hunter with Irene Todd as MC. The program featured the Kentones in red jackets, the Brandon Belles guest group, Prairieland Chorus from Virden, and Regina Saskatchewan quartet Queen City Slickers. The show raised funds for Multiple Sclerosis and Rainbow Society amid a finale with Stan Ward and Ken Hunter leading the group to a standing ovation.

Manitoba Agricultural Hall of Fame Inc held its April 9 1992 annual meeting at the Agricultural Extension Centre Brandon electing W A Knight as President and Betty Loree as First Vice President with Clare Couling as Second Vice President. Four directors ended terms, four new directors named including John Kuhl Winkler Eileen Blake Boissevain W A Knight and Donald Coubrough. Inductees named Alma James Cotton George E Franklin Lloyd Montgomery Hatch Alfred and Edith Poole. Roll of Honour inductees Merle M Barkley Remi De Pape Susan Gertrude Jasper John Maclean I Portage la Prairie. Ian McKenzie gave a history talk. Dedication ceremony date pending.

Community Arts Council News in Brandon Workshops Highlights
VIRDEN The volunteer skills workshop in Brandon on March 20 and 21 drew Shannon Kent and Joyce Linner who shared ideas on leadership and marketing. They presented at the April 18 meeting, as officers prepare for May changes. The Knitting Workshop began April 7 with Joyce Eilers directing, and a Lawn Chair Weaving session is planned for May with Dave Holstein instructing. Violin lessons started April 15 at Goulter School with Jennifer Krieser, and tap dancing by Kim Spears has led to three entries in the Novice Class at the Festival.

Fulton selected athlete of the week
Wendy Fulton of the Birtle Falcons badminton team was named High School Athlete of the Week in Grade 12. She helped win girls doubles and mixed doubles at the Birtle tournament and serves as volleyball captain while also enjoying soccer, track and field, drama, and maintaining an A average.
