Six hours after jewels worth about 18000 dollars were stolen from Mrs Estelle Giddings home near Oakville Ontario the thief placed the gems between the outside screen door and the main entrance and fled during a crowded furniture sale. Mrs Giddings identified the jewels later as the criminal story notes the return. In other news Lockhart W Trinnell 55 will become police chief of Pickering township May 1 after 25 years with Toronto police and founding the arson squad saying he is ready to serve and roll up his sleeves.
