Experimental Farm Finds One Crop Rotation Can Incur Benefits
Experimental Farm at Brandon and sub-stations across Manitoba compare one crop and two crop rotations with summer fallow. Over six years, one crop of wheat per fallow yielded nearly as much as two crops and $1.20 more per acre. Benefits include cleaner, heavier crops but risks include soil exhaustion and drift. A four year rotation of fallow, wheat, clover and grass is noted as an alternative strategy.
