In cherished remembrance of Janet Longmuir who died April 16 1943. Not forgotten dear mother nor ever shall you be. As long as life and memory last we will remember thee. Silent heartache known only to those who grieve. Ever remembered by her husband and family.
Christ Church Hamiota lists no service on Sunday April 22, 1945 at 7 30 p.m. Rev B O Whitfield is rector.
Two birthday notices honor Mrs. Wm Simpson born in New York on June 12, 1857 and Mrs. Geo Cochrane born in St. Marys Ontario on June 17, 1861. Both congratulations fromlocal circles acknowledge long lives and family ties.
Local church notices report worship services led by Rev B T Parkinson and a social evening honoring Miss Freda Norris and Rev B O Whitfield. Also listed are lost gloves, Red Cross subscriber correction, wartime finance visit, marriages, arrivals, home visits, and sale ads for a Fire-Reco range and a Crandall property.
Pope J W Colbeck learns his son Sub-Lieut Wynne is presumed dead after the Cray quet was sunk by a submarine on December 24 1944. Doris Jarrett of Winnipeg visits home for a week or two. Lieut C L Strachan returns after more than five years overseas, received on his mother's 90th birthday.
Rupert Shackleford, who enlisted in September 1939, arrives in Lavinia on Saturday April 14 1945 after more than five years overseas. Mrs R G Shackleford traveled to Winnipeg Saturday morning to meet her son and bring him home that evening. In town for a few days are Mr J W Stewart and Mrs Lloyd McConnell.
