Manitoba Health advises consulting local health units or doctors before foreign travel and to seek care if fever develops after return. The advisory notes recent malaria cases in Manitobans, urges vaccination lead times of two months, and reminds that anti malaria pills do not guarantee protection. It also directs to Health Canada travel resources and to inform physicians about travel history. If malaria is suspected, blood tests are needed and fever in the first year after travel requires prompt medical attention.
