McConnell Beef Club Report From Brandon Meeting
Members at Katherine Boyd’s home reported on Brandon conference budgeting. Four 4-H volunteers aided children from grades four to seven at the Brandon Winter Fair, where over three thousand youngsters toured the fair. Desmond Little won first in 4-H speak offs, Rena Little placed third, and Carolyn Dixon won a Saskatchewan trip. Mrs. Thompson served lunch. A Steak Bingo and Dance is planned April 28 at the McConnell Community Centre.

In Chumah Hall the Beavers Cubs and Scouts hosted a Parent and Son Banquet for 112 attendees including Murray Bray and family and Rev Lynas. The event featured toasts to the Queen Baden Powell and parents, a guest talk by Arthur Knight, Lion’s Club badge presentations, and a World Jamboree film shown to close.

The U C W met at Mrs Hud Andersons at 4th with 9 members present. Devotions by Mrs C Knight and Mrs E Bates on Easter followed by roll call and minutes read and approved.
U C W Oak River Meeting Dates Set With Plans
Oak River U C W held a meeting on April 3 with 16 attendees and a devotional by Mrs D Patterson featuring an Easter theme. Mrs D Griffiths sang As Comes the Breath of Spring. Motions approved to buy an Easter lily cater a May wedding reception and July fair meals. Tea and Bake Sale moved to May 5. Next meeting scheduled for June 5 at 8 00 p m.

Horse Judging Seminar Set at Brandon on April 14
The Manitoba Horse Breeders Association will host a horse judging seminar at the Keystone Centre Brandon on Saturday April 14 from 930 a.m. to 4 p.m. Qualified judges will provide instruction to all light and heavy horse judges and prospective judges.

Education Canada Grant Supports 1979 Student Exchanges
Education Minister Keith Cousens announced a 3180 grant to Education Canada to fund 1979 study visit exchanges. About 715 students from 165 high schools nationwide will participate, including 53 Manitoba students from 14 schools, with 60 per student for admin costs covered by the provincial grant. Nursery School News Celebrates St Patrick Day Fun
March brought cold weather but plenty of play at the nursery. The 3 year old class held Parents Night and the RCMP visited with a Musical Ride slide show. The 4 year old class enjoyed an old fashioned sleigh ride at Lorne and Faye Dale’s home followed by hot dogs and hot chocolate.

Hamiota Young People Report Two February Meetings
Hamiota group notes February gatherings at Beamish home and Strathclair gym with sled rides skating and a Valentine social. A lunch box auction raised 135 dollars while the Easter program and choir attracted 35 to 50 children with about 20 new members. Thanks are extended to Ulrich and Thomp son families and listed members from Hamiota.
