The Hamiota and District Farmers Market committee met March 28 to decide its 1995 direction. Members reviewed 1994, noting 68 vendors across 10 markets with total sales around 14 000. Two guest vendor groups attended and Christmas Markets are planned for November 3 and 24 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Contact Ross and Ethel Robertson for details.
The Birdtail River School Division hired Andrea Fortune for a pilot bus route from the Strathclair catchment area to Strathclair School. The $57 per day contract runs April 3 to the end of the school year. The board also set the 1995 special levy at $2,318,523 and approved the 1995-96 operating budget of $7,569,120. A debenture by law of $136,000 covers Foxwarren School and Birtle Collegiate upgrades. The division will join the Birtle Ellice Recreation Commission and enter the Distance Education Infrastructure Works Project with surplus funds. Bev Hladun at Shoal Lake School received leave of absence June 13–21, 1995. Next meeting is April 12 at 7:30 p.m.
