Velma and Olive Smith of Winnipeg spent Easter with Mrs Elsie Currl at Pairview Home. Brandonites Rev Randell and C Randell returned home after visiting family. The W M S Afternoon Auxiliary met March 20 with Mrs Ward presiding. Reports were given, worship led by the Willing Link Group under Mrs Rutherford assisted by Fraser and Strachan with Thompson.

Isabella Girls defeated Hamiota Has Beens 6 to 3 in a Monday April 2, 1956 rink game. The match at Hamiota raised 83.50 for the Easter Seal Campaign with fines and spectator donations.

Sunday Fire Destroys Farm Home

Fire of unknown origin destroyed the farm home of Mr and Mrs Frank Preston on Sunday April 1. Smoke issued from the basement at 10 a m as occupants fought the blaze for two hours. They moved furniture and some belongings outside but were forced to evacuate due to smoke. Fire engine arrived late due to misdirection blocked roads and broken telephone lines. House and contents partly insured.

Manitoba Good Roads Association elects 1956 Judges Committee

The Manitoba Good Roads Association last week elected its 1956 Judges Committee to inspect 14000 miles of municipal roads across the province. The group will judge beautification efforts in cities towns villages and farm grounds using a new points system. Members include J E McAuley Winnipeg W J Kane Winnipeg chairmen and W H French Stony Mountain among others. Directors reported a 13 percent membership rise this year and welcomed increased grants for market roads and snow clearing from the Department of Public Works.
