Federal Government to Fund Majority of Red River Floodway
The Red River Floodway project aims to cost about 63 million dollars with the federal government covering about 84 percent of the expense. The floodway will divert excess water from near Winnipeg to the east of Transcona and return downstream near St Andrews locks at Lockport, providing a capacity of 60 000 cubic feet per second to mitigate repeated flooding impacts.
