Transport costs and country rail service cuts criticized
A reader accuses the Labour administration of targeting country areas with higher rail and fare increases while neglecting city services. The State Cabinet Transport Committee backs a 16 to 40 percent rail freight rise and a 12 to 14 percent city and country rail fare hike, with calls for alternative efficiency measures and road transport promotion. The writer urges balanced transport policy and urges the cabinet to endorse reforms that don’t impose on country users.
