Guyra Shire discusses road machinery upkeep and local works
The Guyra Shire Council reviewed maintenance plans for road making plant with a single staff oversight appointment. Delays in securing tools were noted and the matter delegated to Dr. Cox and Mr. Kirk. Topics included concrete pipes, moulds, and upcoming warmer weather for sand availability. The council also addressed reserve land near Armidale and a proposed causeway, instructing actions for landholders and potential legal steps for road obstruction. South Guyra ratepayers pressed for electric lights, drainage, and boundary issues, with information to be sought from the Guyra Electric Supply Company. A District Committee meeting for local education was scheduled for September 15. The engineer’s release from army service was awaited, with hope for early clearance postwar.
