Experts Visit Weigh Plans to Expand Trout Hatcheries
A meeting in Armidale heard plans by the Superintendent of Fisheries and the Chief Inspector to remodel Urandangie hatchery and add three hatcheries in Monaro, Central and New England to produce one million trout annually. They urged New England acclimatisation societies to form a central body, with local quotas and a permanent hatchery officer, to boost tourist appeal and provide streams with fingerlings.
