About 200 people gathered at Shire Chambers for the Seventh War Loan ceremony. Dr L P Dutton praised the community’s effort, noting the Shire had raised 59,000 in bonds and aimed to double the quota to complete the honor flag, with leaders urging further contributions. Corporal Rixos spoke of soldiers in the trenches and the need for equipment and support.

A Sunday accident near Ben Lomond ended a single man aged about 20, who was severely injured when a vehicle with cattle attached rolled over him. He was removed to Glen Innes Hospital in a grave condition and is described as highly respected.
