Rail line debate favors Guyra route over Armidale
Mr W M Stevenson testifies before Sydney Works Committee on September 12 1902 highlighting superior land for settlement along the Guyra to Guy Fawkes route. He argues it needs only one bridge versus seven or eight to Armidale, notes rich timber reserves and potential timber getters, and states Glen Innes has greater influence than Armidale. He cites ongoing selectors near Ward's Mistake and Kangaroo Hills and predicts Hillgrove would benefit from the Guyra line.
