Maize Planting Delayed by Rain on Northern Tablelands
Rainy conditions slowed maize planting on the Northern Tablelands per special agronomist W D Kerle. Soil prep lagged and area sown could shrink unless weather improves. Upper North district made headway while South Coast and South Western slopes benefited from recent rains. Demand for hybrid seed remains high with stocks nearly exhausted and seed plans shifting to mature Glen Innes and Grafton hybrids, plus accelerated white hybrid breeding.
